Dr. Lowder include:
- Tempromandibular disorder and craniofacial pain diagnosis and therapy.
- Complex restorative care for patients requiring occlusal stabilization, including removable dentures, partial dentures, and fixed crown and bridge prosthodontics.
- Post traumatic stabilization for jaw injuries.
- Evaluation of TM joint and masticatory muscle involvement in post-cervical trauma.
- Pre and post surgical evaluation and therapy for surgical management of TMD.
- Consultation and treatment for complex resorative rehabilitation or case stabilization for post-restorative therapy.
Dr. Gary W. Lowder
Dr. Gary W. Lowder graduated from Brigham Young University in June of 1972 and then attended dental school at the University of Washington in Seattle from 1972-76. In 1976, Dr. Lowder established a private dental practice in Montpelier, Idaho, where he practiced for nine years as a general dentist. In 1985, Dr. Lowder moved to Logan, Utah, where he limited his practice to tempromandibular disorders and craniofacial pain. In 1987 he also began a second limited practice in Ogden, Utah. Currently he maintains both practices with Dr. Carl McMiallan, for diagnosis and treatment of TMD and craniofacial pain, and cosmetic and restorative dentistry.
Dr. Lowder attends continuing education conferences of the Academy of Orofacial Pain, and the American Equilibration Society, is a trustee for the Foundation of the Pierre Fauchard International Honorary Dental Academy; and a fellow in the International College of Dentists. He has served as president of the Utah First District Dental Society. He also maintains a full-time faculty position at the University of Utah Dental Education Program teaching the occlusion course in conjunction with Creighton Dental School, in Omaha, Nebraska.
His research focused on training general dental practices in tempromandibular disorder screening and in follow-up restorative care for splint therapy patients who have tempromandibular disorders. He lectures to dentists and staff as well as other interested groups on TM Disorders, dental rehabilitation procedures, splint therapy, and TMD imaging and techniques. He has also done research in common pharmacologic pain and muscle relaxant therapies and has taught seminars in these areas. Currently his research is focused on combining the benefits of splint therapy and biofeedback therapy.
