Sleep Apnea Options?
Our most Popular Appliances
The TAP III
The TAP III (Thorton Adjustable Positioner) is the most recent version of the TAP appliance. The TAP is one of the most researched oral appliances on the market. The best attribute of the TAP III appliance is that it can easily be adjusted by the patient and it is the only appliance on the market that can also easily be adjusted in the sleep lab.
The EMA
The EMA (Elastic Mandibular Advancement) appliance is one of the most comfortable of the oral appliances for sleep apnea and snoring. It is made with a very thin and comfortable material and the elastic bands allow for good range of motion with the ability to easily speak and drink with the appliance in place. The EMA is usually our appliance of choice for patients who have been diagnosed with "benign snoring" (snoring only without sleep apnea). The EMA can be adjusted by using different lengths of bands. The bands also come in different densities which allows for a custom, comfort fit.
The Somnomed
The Somnomed is a relatively new appliance on the market. It's strong point is the fact that it is very smooth and comfortable. It is unique in that the upper and lower component of the appliance are not connected as with other appliances. This allows for full opening of the mouth. The Somnomed can also be adjusted.
The OASYS
The OASYS Oral/Nasal Airway System is another, but is the first dental device to be reviewed by both the dental and ENT divisions of the FDA and to be approved as a dental device for treatment of snoring and sleep apnea through mandibular repositioning and also as a nasal dilator for reduction of nasal resistance and improved nasal breathing.
